In fact, it's one of the few good fantasies out there to be released this year. A self-contained novel, House of Shadows is an imaginative fantasy complete with a strong trio of main characters - including two wonderful heroines - and some truly awesome worldbuilding. Though House of Shadows isn't quite my favorite book by Rachel Neumeier, it certainly is a memorable one that is high on the list.
